Sosei is a biopharmaceutical company of Japanese origin that develops and commercializes innovative drugs globally. Its business model is primarily based upon identifying new uses for established drugs and exploiting its unique position within Japanese, European and North American pharmaceutical markets by acquiring compounds from, and bringing compounds into, Japan.
The Group fuels its pipeline through its reprofiling (including Drug Development Platform® (DRP®), identifying new uses for existing drugs and drug templates)and in-licensing.
The Group's pipeline is augmented by in-licensing compounds already marketed or at the late-stages of development from companies in the United States and Europe to market in Japan in order to take advantage of the lower risks associated with such compounds and the unique requirements of the Japanese regulatory environment.
Sosei commercializes its products through out-licensing typically after the proof of principle (POP) is established in Phase 2a. It aims to have direct sales in Japan in future depending on industry environment. Up to the present, significant out-license deals have been established.
The Group has a strong clinical development and commercialization team supported by an international board of directors.
